Tutorium: Information Systems and the Brain: An Introduction to NeuroIS

Thema

Neuro-Information-Systems (NeuroIS) is a research field in the IS discipline that relies on neuroscience and neurophysiological theories and tools to better understand the development, use, and impact of information and communication technologies. Despite the fact that NeuroIS already exists for several years now, many IS (Wirtschaftsinformatik) scholars are not yet familiar with the concept of NeuroIS. This 90min tutorial seeks to contribute to an initial understanding of the fundamentals of NeuroIS, and it mainly targets IS scholars without any NeuroIS knowledge - it is meant to be an introductory tutorial. The tutorial should be useful to senior IS scholars, post-docs, as well as graduate students interested in the opportunities offered by this new field. After participating in this tutorial, one should have the ability to evaluate whether NeuroIS is worth pursuing. Also, participants should have developed a good idea of how to get started, and what to do next in order to be able to continue learning about NeuroIS.
